Water filled barrier recycling
Wellington Environmental Manager Hannah Fletcher followed some broken water filled barriers to the Second Life Plastics factory in Levin, where they were chipped and turned into Tuff Buckets.
The robust buckets are sold at locations like Farmlands and commercial cleaning suppliers.
Second Life Plastics can also recycle items like broken wheelie bins and plastic pallets, as well as LDPE wrap that comes from the scaffolding industry – all to keep plastic waste out of landfill.
(As a manufacturer, Second Life Plastics only recycle certain types of plastic and do not collect. If you’re keen to see if they can repurpose your plastic waste, first get in touch with them. You may be asked to provide a sample.)
