Timber waste audit
We’ve been working with Tonkin + Taylor on a detailed audit of the timber waste from our Christchurch Youth Hub site for BRANZ.
We’ve segregated the timber waste on site, recording the construction stage and estimating the amount and type. We got together to manually sort the two 9 cubic metre skips of timber we’ve collected so far, separating it into seven categories and weighing it to calibrate the site data.
All this information will help to build a picture of timber waste through the material and project lifecycle in New Zealand, an important step towards improving timber waste management and reducing the amount of timber that ends up in landfill.
We’ve got more sort and weigh audits planned over the next 6 months.
