Stone carving donation
Our Dunedin team is currently working on a job at the University Plaza which involves removing the Ōamaru stone façade.
Project Manager Paul Stevenson arranged for some of the stone to be donated to the Otago Correctional Facility after receiving a call from Moana Wahanui, who is the OCF’s Volunteer Co-ordinator.
In return for the donation, one of the men at the facility gave us one of his carvings. The carving of a Manaia (guardian) has the head of a bird, the tail of a fish and the body of a man, and will look after our building.
With our Dunedin office currently being renovated, the timing of this koha is perfect – it will take pride of place in our main foyer once renovations are complete.
