Soft plastics collection trial
We’ve been working with our waste partner Green Gorilla in a trial to collect the soft plastics from three of our Auckland sites and deliver it to saveBOARD, who use it to manufacture their innovative board products.
We’re making it easy for our sites by sorting out the logistics of getting the plastic to Hamilton, and it’s great to know that our soft plastic isn’t being sent overseas for others to deal with.
Green Gorilla are super excited to be a part of Naylor Love’s trial to help reduce the amount of waste going to landfill and turn soft plastic into a re-useable product with saveBOARD.

It’s been a long journey to get to this point – we started a plastics study with Unitec’s Environmental Solutions Research Centre and Auckland Council two years ago, collecting and auditing our plastic waste to see where it was coming from and what we could reuse or recycle.
It’s fantastic to see Naylor Love trialling this collection. It takes time, passion, commitment and courage to test new ideas, but this is how we become real kaitiaki and look to better future without creating mountains of plastic waste.

Our list of waste partners is growing all the time, and we’re always on the lookout for more NZ manufacturers who can take our waste to re-manufacture – please contact us if you’ve got solutions!
