Queenstown resource sorting area
We’ve set up a beautifully organised resource sorting station at our Queenstown yard, making it easier to recycle, reuse and donate materials, all aimed at diverting construction waste away from landfill.
The plan is to make reusable materials available to local schools, community groups and to the public for DIY projects. More about that later…
This new system allows projects that don’t have space for their own skips to sort their waste at the yard, allowing us to meet our ambitious waste reduction targets on every project, large and small. We’ll also be able to keep a close eye on the waste we’re generating and spot new reduction / reuse / recycling opportunities.
We got our Queenstown crew together for a BBQ and a kōrero about the new sorting area. Malcolm from AllWaste came along to the session and highlighted the different skips, explaining what can be recycled and how to make sure it can be processed correctly.
This is an important step in improving our waste management practices and we’re excited to see how it will benefit the community. We’re very grateful for the Waste Minimisation Community Fund from Queenstown Lakes District Council that is helping us to achieve this.
