A collaborative, all-team approach results in a defect-free handover.
Following our work in the North Pier Domestic Lounge, our team were pleased to be back at Wellington International Airport to complete a project in the International Arrivals area.
The airport was struggling to cope with massive growth in passenger numbers, so the aim of the project was to improve the experience for passengers with a better layout, new bathrooms and more space, and to improve processing efficiency for Aviation Security and Customs Service teams.
We were working to tight deadlines, relocating existing tenants as we demolished, reconfigured and re-built individual areas – all while flights kept landing and passengers kept arriving in the third-busiest airport in New Zealand.
A collaborative all-team approach between Naylor Love, the consultants and our carefully selected team of subcontractors was key to the success of this project. We completed the work in each area to allow plenty of time for consultant inspections before it was due to be occupied, enabling us to achieve a defect-free handover.
The end result is a more usable space for both airport workers and travellers, completed to an ambitious programme in a high security operational airport environment.
