Parliament Executive Wing Ground Floor

Our Executive Wing Ground Floor redevelopment project involved the construction of a new entry canopy and internal alterations to the ground floor of Parliament’s Executive Wing, more commonly known as the Beehive.

Exterior works to the Historic Place Category 1 building included demolition of the existing entry canopy and the construction of a new larger and higher canopy in its place. The canopy is partially built over an existing sub‐grade slab that forms the roof of a basement below. The new canopy is clad in a combination of zinc cladding and a commercial aluminium glazing system with a low pitch roof.

Works to the ground floor interior included the construction of a new visitor entry and visitor centre, washrooms, café kiosk, business reception area and foyer, plus new flooring throughout.

Our team worked tirelessly to complete the project within the high-security environment of the Beehive, and within the fast-track, 82-day programme, all while ensuring that the building could remain fully operational in the run-up to the 2017 general election.
