Extensive staged refurbishment project in a live hospital environment.
We carried out an extensive redevelopment project at Nelson’s Manuka Street Hospital in four stages:
- Stage A – New comms room, MSB room, admin offices and a biomedical room. We widened the main corridor and raised the floor level with a new concrete slab. We built a trafficable plant room corridor and roof extension, plus services enabling works to facilitate future stages.
- Stage B – New energy centre building, including services connections to the main building. Kitchen and two consulting offices, plus a plant room above the kitchen. Converted an existing ward into a temporary post anaesthetic care unit.
- Stage C – Recovery stage 1 and 2 ward, day stay admit and consulting rooms, temporary theatre scope clean and associated plantrooms.
- Stage D – New operating theatre, plant room and ancillary corridor / stores / scope clean. Reconfigured the temporary scope clean to a parents’ room.
Stringent dust, noise and vibration control was critical in the live hospital environment. We worked in partnership with the hospital to minimise the impact on their operations throughout the 15-month project.
