Five storey apartment building with basement car parking at Hobsonville Point
Kerewhenua Apartments is a five level plus basement apartment building at Hobsonville Point, comprising 33 one to three bedroom apartments and basement car parking.
The basement structure is precast panel and flat slab to ground level. The basement slab and walls are fully tanked with Sika Bentonite, providing a totally dry environment on a site with groundwater issues.
The upper structure is generally steel frame supporting ComFlor slab, with precast panels as shear walls and lift shaft. External timber framing supports a mixture of brickwork and aluminium Nu-Wall claddings. All internal walls were steel stud, with suspended ceilings throughout.
There are some balconies within the basic structure, but most are cantilevered precast concrete. Balconies are generally protected with glass balustrades and all balconies and the podium were covered with pavers supported on pedestals. The podium and ground level apartments were provided with soft landscaping in a mixture of blockwork and precast concrete planter boxes.
