Marley pipe offcut recycling
We completed a project last year where plastic waste we collected from five of our construction sites in Auckland was analysed at Unitec.
Now that we know where the waste is coming from, we’ve been engaging suppliers and manufacturers to trial a number of initiatives and to divert plastic from our waste bins and landfill.
Our latest initiative is to partner with Marley to recycle PVC pipe offcuts. We have a bag on site at Onehunga High School and one in our yard, which Marley collect and reuse to make new pipes. We’re working together to see if we can roll this out nationwide.
Some our team also toured Marley’s manufacturing plant, which helped us to understand the “circular economy” process we’re contributing to and energized us to divert as much waste from our bins as we can.
