Mugford Drain volunteer day
Some of our Christchurch team spent the day volunteering alongside the Estuary Trust at the Mugford Drain Restoration Project.
The aim is to transform this 20-hectare section back to wetland.
Minimal rain over the past three months meant the original plan to spend the day planting was derailed, so instead the team took to weed whacking, freeing native plants, uncovering the skink island – and got thigh deep in the river wrangling some weeds to get water flowing once more.
A huge thanks to the New Brighton Community Gardens, Kennards Hire, and Zoe from Accessman for supporting the troops with kai and coffee – what a team!
