Hybrid power system trial
We jumped at the chance to put Hirepool’s Makinex hybrid power system to the test while we waited for power to be connected at the gate at our Fisher & Paykel Global HQ site.
The system combines solar panels, batteries and a backup generator. The solar panel generates electricity, with any excess charging the batteries, and the diesel generator kicks in if the battery runs low.
Over a 3-week period in May-June, we drew 49% of our site power from the solar and battery combination, with 51% coming from the generator. Hirepool estimated our CO2 savings at 3,435kg, an excellent start on a project where we are proud to support the client’s commitment to sustainability.
