Cooling tower basin slab at Tauhara
Our Waikato/BoP team are getting ready to pour the slab for the cooling tower basin at Contact Energy’s Tauhara geothermal power station.
We’ve used 130 rolls of Thermakraft Limited’s 300-micron Thermathene Orange concrete underlay, which is enough to cover 23 netball courts. We had trouble sourcing that much underlay with the current shortages of building materials, but the Taupō ITM came to our rescue with 90 rolls, with the remainder coming from CARTERS Napier, Hastings and Taupō.
We’ve placed 1660 12-metre lengths of H12 reinforcing bars for the slab, which if we laid them out end-to-end would be 18km long. A big shout-out to Reofab, Dellta Contractors and Connell Contractors for all their hard work!
