Building Out Waste 2021

150 people gathered at Unitec Institute of Technology to hear a number of speakers, including our Project Manager Annie Day.

Annie helped to deliver a seminar on a project we completed last year with Unitec and Mitre 10 MEGA, where we collected plastic waste from five different construction sites in Auckland. The plastic was analysed at Unitec, and established that the most common plastic waste was material used to construct the buildings, with plastic used to protect the construction works the second-most common source of plastic waste.

Now that we know where the plastic is coming from, we’re partnering with stakeholders, suppliers and manufacturers to trial a number of initiatives and to reduce plastic waste on our Auckland sites.
