Every millimetre and every moment used to build a new backpacker hotel.

The five-storey Jucy Snooze Queenstown is a perfect example of space saving design, packing 39 ensuite double rooms, dorm rooms with 196 sleeping pods, communal kitchens and bathrooms, a reception area and a roof-top bar and café into a 1,775m² building. Our team contributed buildability advice in design/methodology meetings before work started on site, then worked within tight tolerances to ensure that everything was millimetre-perfect.

Space was also at a premium on the on the 386m² corner site, bordered by busy roads and existing three-storey buildings. With minimal space for storage and lay down and big pre-cast panels to unload, we carefully managed deliveries to avoid disruption to the neighbours and road users.

Despite the challenges, we pulled out all the stops to complete the project to a demanding deadline. The client was impressed with Naylor Love’s efficiency and professionalism, and was delighted with the finished hotel.
