An elaborate restaurant fitout completed to uncompromising quality standards.
Following a number of successful high-profile hospitality projects at SkyCity, including MASU by Nic Watt and their Atrium redevelopment, we were delighted to be invited back to build and fit out their latest smart dining Chinese restaurant, Huami.
We started on site in November 2016 with the demolition of an existing restaurant, and over the next few months we completely transformed the space, extending the façade outwards onto Federal Street and upwards with a new mezzanine floor.
The quality fit out included both front of house show kitchens and back of house kitchen facilities, which included a wood-fired duck oven and duck drying room. Behind the scenes we installed new speciality appliances and services throughout.
The sumptuous décor in the restaurant, private dining rooms, bar and bathrooms included extensive custom joinery, laser printed and silk wallpapers, suspended plasterboard and timber lattice ceilings, and even a fish tank for live seafood.
With the site right on a busy street and adjacent to SkyCity’s main entrance, and the client keen for the project to be virtually invisible to their patrons, careful control of the public interfaces and strict adherence to noise restrictions was key to the success of the project.
