Working around the clock to upgrade airport facilities.
Our Projects & Interiors team worked around the clock over six months to upgrade the international departures hall at Queenstown Airport.
The night shift was tasked with updating the terminal gate portals, installing new plywood linings, and helping with the airport’s furniture upgrade works. They worked around Aviation Security inspections, sniffer dogs, and the logistics of arranging furniture truck movements across runway aprons. They tidied up after each shift, ensuring that there was no trace of the work when airport staff and passengers arrived in the morning.
The day shift demolished and renovated the four bathroom blocks in the international terminal, staging the work to ensure that only one block was closed at a time and carefully orchestrating deliveries around flight arrivals and departures. We hoarded off and controlled the work areas to comply with airport security requirements. With a major overhaul imminent in the wider airport terminal, we used locally sourced materials, fixtures and fittings with long-lasting supply availability, which will make it easy to integrate the old and new.
Our team did all they could to divert waste away from landfill, carefully removing fixtures and fittings so they could be reused in the community.
