Fast-track fitout and building refurbishment over a live retail environment.

We refurbished a building for the Invercargill Licensing Trust in a five-month project, replacing the roof and external cladding and completing an internal fitout on the first floor.

We were working over a live retail environment on the ground floor of the two-storey building, protecting it with a scaffolding tent while we demolished the existing roof. The new roof is a Kingspan insulated roof system installed over new steel purlins, and the external cladding in a James Hardie system.

Inside, we installed new walls, internal partitions, ceilings, flooring and services to modernise the 500sqm space, which now includes executive offices, an open plan work area, boardroom and meeting rooms. Along with the very modern acoustic wall lining and fittings, the fitout features large murals depicting scenes from the client’s history.

The full-coverage corner site with two busy road frontages was challenging at times. We worked closely with the ground floor retail tenant, a neighbouring bulk store and the council to keep local business running in the busy lead-up to the festive season.

We handed the project over to the delighted client on the final working day of the year.
