Heating system replacement through the middle of a busy school.
We completed heating upgrades at Shotover Primary School, replacing the fossil fuel boiler with an efficient hot water heat pump system. This involved building two sheds to house the electrical plant and excavating a 200-metre trench for the insulated flow and return pipes that run between the plant rooms, classroom blocks and administration block.
The trenching was an intricate job, running right through the busy school and with each scoop of the digger uncovering unmarked services and old foundations. We were also carefully working around the school’s in-ground electricity and water infrastructure, scheduling works around the school’s operations.
The project ran smoothly and the students returned from their July school holidays to nice warm classrooms.
