Seismic upgrade and new shop front enhance street appeal in the CBD.
This project involved the demolition of an existing shop fitout, seismic upgrades and alterations to prepare the 1964 Tiki Corner retail building for sale.
Naylor Love were responsible for upgrading the seismic rating of the building, which included installing a new foundation and completing structural steel works. We also removed a corner column to allow the entrance to the key ground floor tenancy to be relocated to the street corner.
The new shopfront works involved large display windows, doors, and LED back-lit mesh rainscreen cladding, which improved the building’s street appeal.
Completing the work in a busy CBD location presented challenges, which we overcame by liaising with both the tenants and neighbouring properties to ensure minimal disruption. We also worked efficiently to get materials in and out of the site to reduce the impact on passers-by. This kept the neighbouring retailers happy and resulted in positive feedback from the client.
The works helped add value to the building, which sold for a record price.
