2023 Timber Design Awards

The Innovation Timber Engineering category celebrates timber projects that showcase engineering and construction innovation. Our Gibbons Naylor team in Nelson, Studio Pacific Architecture and Dunning Thornton Consultants were commended by the judges for the extensive use of prefabrication of the LVL structural components:

Prefabrication was a significant benefit to the construction team; reducing time working at height, providing greater quality control, and less disruption due to weather conditions.

Nelson Airport Terminal was also awarded Highly Commended for the Supreme Award, with the judges commenting that:

The seamless fusion of architecture, engineering and timber, represents a global benchmark for timber architecture and engineering innovation.
